Children’s Ministries

Through its children’s ministries, Atonement Lutheran seeks to grow disciples for Christ by providing age appropriate learning, fellowship, and servant opportunities on Sunday mornings and throughout the week.  These ministries are designed for children birth through grade 6.

Splash!
This is a cradle roll ministry to families of children birth to age 3 which age appropriate, faith based resources to use in the home.  Families of children who are baptized here receive monthly mailings.

Faith Based Play Group
This gathering of families with infants and toddlers meets monthly for play dates and conversation about raising faithful children.

Sunday School
Children age 3 through grade 6 explore their faith by participating in Sunday morning learning opportunities. Students meet in grade level classrooms with a team of teachers and assistants. Each week children explore one Bible story and are given the opportunity to contribute to God’s work through a mission offering. Class size is approximately 10-12 students. Click here for the registration form.

Children’s Choir
Children grade 3 through grade 6 may participate in a choir which meets from 5:30 – 6:15 on Wednesdays beginning October 5th. The choir sings in church periodically.  No auditions are necessary.

Children in kindergarten through grade 6 gather for fun and fellowship events about every two months.  The next event is a Halloween Blast on Friday, October 14th from 6:30 – 11:00.  Activities include a scavenger hunt, costume contest, games, face painting, and food.  Sign up on the Youth bulletin board at the church or call the church office.

Day Camp

In partnership with other area ELCA congregations we offer Day Camp for children in kindergarten through grade 4.  This summer program brings camp to the kids and is a great opportunity for children who are too young to attend resident camp to have the same dynamic Bible Camp experience right here in St. Cloud.  Next summer’s dates are July 9-12.  Registration forms will be available on this site in April 2012.

Vacation Bible School

This summer partnership with the Churches of St. Peter and St. Paul will offered June 13-16, 2012 for children age 3 through 6th grade.  Information about next summer’s theme will be available in February 2012; registration forms will be available on this site in April, 2012

Milestone Ministries

The following milestones are celebrated at Atonement for children:

        Baptism Anniversary

In January of each year we celebrate the baptismal anniversary of those
children baptized during the previous calendar year.  Families are recognized
in worship and children receive a gift.

        Welcome School

Children may begin Sunday School when they are three years old. They are
welcomed to this educational ministry with recognition in worship and given a gift.

        First Communion

Children in first and second grade are offered the opportunity to prepare to receive
the Lord’s Supper.  These classes are generally held in the spring of the year.

       Third Grade Bible

Children in third grade receive a study Bible to use at home and in Sunday School
This gift is presented in worship and instruction in use of the Bible is held in
       Sunday School class.
