Atonement attempts to support members in a variety of
volunteer opportunities. We work through the Men in Missions, with
Habitat for Humanity - St. Cloud.
As part of the ELCA we also work through their programs of
volunteerism:

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES YOUNG ADULTS IN INTERNATIONAL SERVICE
The Division for Global Mission through its Young Adults program
is making available a 10-12 month international service opportunity
in the United Kingdom for young adults, ages 18-25. Service
opportunities may include working with children, homeless or elderly;
helping with church youth or music ministries: working with youth
clubs or community groups; and so on. Applications needed by April 5,
1999 Term of service begins in September 1999 Individual is
responsible for first $250 of airfare Weekly stipend, lodging and
board are provided locally This program is managed in the U.K. by the
ecumenical organization, Time for God. This is a great opportunity
for young adults to serve in an international setting as they also
learn more about themselves, their relationship with God, and their
place in God's world. SUMMER ENGLISH TEACHING PROGRAM - CHINA ELCA
congregations are invited to recruit teams of 4-6 people to teach
English in China for 5 weeks this summer with the China-based Amity

skills to Chinese middle school teachers of English. Two persons in
each team must have a B.A. degree and the team leader should have
previous teaching experience. For other team members the primary
requirements are a love for students, good health and a willingness
to serve. Amity requests that eligible volunteers be between the ages
of 21 to 68. Costs: Volunteer teachers are required to pay
their own airfare. In addition, each individual pays a program fee of
$750 which covers administration, room and board for the period
in-country. Dates: July 5 to August 9, 1999 Applications should be
made by May 17, 1999. For further information, please contact:
