- Housing/Urban Growth
GRIP
Update….The Lord feeds the multitude from a few loaves and fishes. He walks
on water. He challenges us to do the same. Isaiah’s GREAT RIVER INTERFAITH
PARTNERSHIP invites you to be part of our PUBLIC MEETING on September 29
at St. Paul’s Catholic Church from 7-8:30 pm. Fulfill that command by
helping to lift others up out of the waters in which they are drowning. Join
members of GRIP Churches and join with members of the African American,
Hispanic, Asian and immigrant communities to celebrate the rescues that have
happened and to create a vision of hope for our city and its surrounding
communities. Come as you are. For more information, call Kris Lehman at
252-6203.
Diversity Task Force..Through meetings with St.
Cloud City Council members about ways to strengthen the St. Cloud Human Rights
Office, the GRIP Diversity Taskforce has discovered strong support for
developing a regional office. Research with neighboring jurisdictions is
underway. If you would like to be involved in this exciting work or would
like more information, call the GRIP office at 656-9215.
More women are hospitalized because of domestic violence
than car accidents, heart disease and cancer combined. Yet the Minnesota
Legislature has cut all state funding for programs which help women and children
escape the violence. Join the ISAIAH Domestic Violence Taskforce in
urging our legislators to restore funding in 2005.
The Living Wage Taskforce has obtained commitments form
seven area cities and three counties to work together to begin developing common
criteria, including a living wage standard, for business subsidies. The
criteria would apply to businesses who receive tax-payers' money .
(ISAIAH is a non-profit,
ecumenical coalition of 78 congregations working in the greater Minneapolis, St.
Paul and St. Cloud [GRIP] regions. The members of ISAIAH are moved by faith to
act. We are called to
transform the world and
to establish racial and economic justice in our communities, in our state and in
our country. Acting together, we are bringing to life the prophet Isaiah’s
words, “You shall be called the repairer of the breach, the restorer of streets
to dwell in.” ISAIAH 58:12)
